In Utah, a group of health underwriters is asking the Legislature to consider ways to help restore market forces to health care by giving patients incentives to buy the best coverage for themselves. This is a step in the right direction, especially when compared with the socialistic (albeit not single-payer) proposal being put forth by Governor Richardson here in New Mexico.
Free market analysts have long wondered why health insurance couldn't be treated more like car insurance -- after all, there's no auto insurance crisis, is there? Maybe Utah will show us the way.
