State budget documents show that Colorado officials have meditated deeply on the problem of Medicaid and their efforts have borne fruit.
You must be properly prepared to appreciate the full beauty of this solution. Close your eyes. Relax your whole body. Let your chin sink. Imagine you are asleep. Breathe deeply, inhaling in one smooth continuous flow. Leave all strain and care behind. Come back into balance, meditate and perform the sinking dance into the sea of consciousness.
In the sea of consciousness know that Colorado government cares. It cares so much that it will forsake all HMOs and fee-for-service providers for you. It will create CO Health to care for those who are vulnerable and less fortunate.
CO Health will provide “a coordinated medical home with the potential for appropriate management and oversight,” a “critical mass,” the “consistent application of best practices, enviably “streamlined operations,” and “accessibility and understandability for all.” It will “foster a strong purchasing power for selective contraction and best coordination of care” and a “comprehensive, coordinated approach to health care delivery.” It will create unity and a sense of belonging. Everyone in Medicaid will receive health care from the same caring delivery network in which “[t]he increase in quality and appropriateness of care through this consolidation is perhaps even more important than the implied financial savings through ‘economies of scale.’”
As the state says, CO Health will "achieve the efficiency of centralization."
