The False Hope of Evidence-Based Medicine

Evidence-based medicine is one current reform fad within health care policy. It sounds good. After all, who could be against using evidence in the practice of medicine?

There's more to the story, of course, since EBM is, among other things, a code for the bureaucratic practice of medicine. And an issue brief from The Heartland Institute argue that "A surprising amount of published medical research—“most” of it, according to one prominent researcher—is false."
