Imagine further that the gas station and repair shop had to provide gas to indigent folks irrespective of their ability to pay for the gas or repairs.
Imagine that the federal government paid 71% of the costs of providing gas and repairs to low income drivers. (Medicaid)
Imagine that the federal government paid 81% of the costs of providing gas and repairs for elderly drivers (Medicare)
Imagine the government now telling us they would step in to reform health care.
