The Baltimore Sun had an interesting headline for a story announcing that Howard County in Maryland is pursuing a plan to provide health care coverage for all residents. This headline surely belongs in any exhibit of media bias: "Aim to Rescue Uninsured Wins Praise."
Rescue? The use of that word certainly illustrates the biases of the headline writer and the editor who chose to run it. Was a headline like "Plan to Cover the Uninsured Wins Praise" too boring for the Sun? Of course, the article also notes that the plan is coming under criticism, but this fact is overlooked by the headline praising the plan to "rescue" the uninsured.
