Pass along this video clip, “Is Recycling Always Good?” It’s more than eco- and econ-educational, it’s entertaining. On July 18, ABC News interviewed Freakonomics co-author and New York Times contributor Stephen Dubner about recycling. When asked, is recycling it the right thing to do? Dubner smilingly replies, “Sometimes.”
In just over four intelligent minutes, Dubner covers the cause du jour, water bottles, as well as newspaper and aluminum cans. Leading to a serious point about recycling scrap metal he says, “If you have a house and you put all your garbage outside and leave it there for a week, the stuff that gets stolen is worth recycling.”
Dubner is saying what the Property and Environment Research Center, Cato Institute, Reason Foundation, Heartland Institute, Foundation for Research on Economics & the Environment and others have said for some time. It's good to see ABC News help spread the word.
