America’s Future (Foundation)

Developing the next generation of libertarian, conservative leaders

Filed As:  EventsGeneral

Make a point to make merry with, and support, America’s Future Foundation, which holds its Annual Gala June 28 in Washington, D.C. What is AFF? AFF’s homepage bills itself as “a network of America’s next generation of classical liberal leaders.”

That’s modest. AFF’s mission is “to identify and develop … future conservative and libertarian leaders.” The target audience for its activities and outreach: professionals in their 20s and 30s.

In addition to fancy-but-still-black-tie-optional Annual Gala soirees, AFF hosts debates, a job board for Patrick Henry-style revolutionaries and networking shindigs. AFF publishes Brainwash (online monthly magazine) and DoubleThink (print quarterly). Further, when DC's daily scandals aren't enough of a diversion, AFF organizes cool cultural outings, which it refers to as AFF Underground.

You can support America’s Future Foundation regardless of your geographic location. The funds you send are well-leveraged; AFF is far from being a posh-office organization.

A May 9, 2007 Washington Times article, “Right for the Future,” reported, after starting some 12 years ago, “AFF still operates on a tight budget. There is no headquarters – [executive director] Mr. Kirby, the only full-time employee, has an office at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, a free-market think tank -- and relies heavily on the volunteer activism of its members.” Most importantly, the article notes, “the foundation has gained a reputation as a key link for upwardly mobile young operatives on the right, by providing ‘face time’ with more senior leadership.”
