Free Meds

Filed As:  Health Care

Information is power. And it's also the key to useful prescription drugs. The Honolulu Advertiser discusses a health fair last week that could lead people to free or deeply discounted prescription drugs. The Partnership for Prescription Assistance was a force behind the fair.

One of the public comments on the story blasts pharmaceutical companies for, well, for acting like profit-seeking organizations rather than charities.

One of the ongoing themes in politics is the alleged clash between human needs and the business imperative. (The Acton Institute does a good job of dispelling that myth, and pointing out the moral value of enterprise.) Nowhere do we see this theme more passionately argued than with the case of prescription drug pricing. It's hard to think of another area of business in which the stakes for buying into the myth are any higher.
