Sssh! Don't give the politicians any ideas. It was the political class (starting with Richard Nixon) who got us going down the road of HMOs in the first place. Sure, Kaiser was around, but Nixon and Congress did some heavy lifting for HMOs during the 1970s. See, for example, "Who Killed Health Care?" by Regina Herzlinger.

It would almost be worth it to start a dog HMO, if only to observe how insurance can distort the marketplace.
