A new strain of flu virus will “arise from” an existing strain of the same virus. New strains of virus do not occur de novo.

Where else can one obtain new medications and immunizations other than from pharmaceutical companies?

Thanks to the persistent assaults on pharmaceutical companies, about 200,000 people die each year in the US alone because we do not have new antibiotics to treat resistant bacterial strains. Less than 1/3 the total amounts of new drugs are under development now than in 1990. This benefits no one other than the funeral industry.

The next pandemic may be H5N1, bird flu or something different but one preperation of food, water, protection equipment fits all. It even helps for black outs, snow storms and job loss.

Not only does it sound like you work for one of the pharmaceutical companies, but your information is incorrect. The next influenza pandemic will come from a new strain of influenza, not an existing strain of seasonal influenza.
