Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana is one of the rising stars of the Republican Party, and a policy wonk. He's even made his name in health care policy.
Now his administration has come out with a new recommendation for Medicaid: Managed care. They call it "Louisiana Health First."
I'm sure I'm missing something, but that doesn't sound terribly innovative, or free-market or consumer-friendly.
It also illustrates one problem with Medicaid waivers: They allow for "innovation," but at a significant cost--states have to show that they're going to ADD people to Medicaid.
