Prevent gerrymandering? Good. Reduce the number of legislators and cut their pay? Perhaps.
The Mackinac Center for Public Policy found a Powerpoint slide presentation on the web site of the United Auto Workers. (Pundits have described the Michigan Democratic Party as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the UAW). The presentation, says the center, "leaves little doubt that the 'Reform Michigan Government Now' ballot initiative is a partisan power play."
The center's work caught the attention of the Wall Street Journal editorial board today, which says that by "exposing this partisan power grab, the think tank has performed a public service to Michigan voters"
