Is more money required to fix Detroit's miserable public school system?
Before you answer that question, consider this: A federal investigator says that the Detroit Public Schools has misused $53.6 million in Title I funds.
According to a report in the Detroit News, "The audit uncovered more than $1 million questionable personnel expenditures and $52 million in inadequately documented costs."
So it's possible that some of the money was merely spent legitimately though not "adequately documented." Then again, I doubt that kind of accounting would fly with those agencies that regulate public companies.
