Writing at National Review's blog "The Corner," Ramesh Ponnuru gives a very good reason why a government takeover of health care must be resisted: It's destined to spiral into lower quality and higher costs--which will then be used as rationales for even more money.

He's speaking of the national government, but the logic holds true at the state level.
