Another Moment in Government Health Care

Some Colorado residents are upset that the Veterans Administration is backing off of plant to build new hospital for veterans in the Denver area. The agency is thinking about contracting with various hospitals rather than starting a new hospital.

Perhaps it's a good idea. But consider this an example of what happens when there's a single payer of health care: You're at the mercy of whatever someone in the government bureaucracy decides.

This is not to say that the non-government portion of the hospital sector is perfect; far from it. But at least in some places you have a choice in hospitals.
