Underestimating Public Spending on Education 

Commonwealth Foundation critiques costing-out study

It's the latest way of increasing funding on schools while avoiding significant forms to the way that education is funded:

1. Hire an outside firm to look at school finances.

2. The report calls for massive spending increases.

3. Politicians use the report as leverage for ramping up spending.

Writing in a policy brief (PDF) for the Allegheny Institute, Sarah Titus and Jake Haulk say that the report undercounts federal funding in the state.
