Sen. Coburn's had personal experience with the mess that is government regulation of U.S. health care. A high-risk ob-gyn dedicated to the ideal of the "citizen-legislator", Sen. Coburn fits the role of "physician-legislator" outstandingly. After election to the Senate, he kept delivering babies on occasion, which brought him into conflict with Senate ethics rules. They tried to censure him for delivering babies! I think he still does it, but for free, to avoid breaking the rules again. It's the kind of story that has to make you laugh, unless you cry.
