The Holy War Against Global Warming

By John LaPlante

For serious believers, a religious faith re-orders your life, including how you spend your money and time. Some recent actions by public officials make me wonder if "fighting global warming" has become the new religion of the day.

In Kansas, a state official denies an application for a coal-fired electricity plant on the grounds that the facility will contribute to global warming.

Now, New Mexico may nix another electric plant, again in part due to the global-warming campaign.

Without electricity, we would be reduced to ... well, a lot of life-altering decisions that would rival a religious vow in terms of impact.
