Today's Wall Street Journal has an article (subscriber link) about a plan by the chancellor of the University of Colorado (famously left-learning) to create a chair of endowed thought. Since I have spent time around professors who uttered the names Ronald Reagan and Arthur Laffer as vulgarities, I'm sympathetic but also wary of the idea.
But even more unusual than a conservative professor is a libertarian social worker. The blog of the Ocean State Policy Research Institute has the story of William Felkner, the president's founder and president. He worked to obtain a degree in social work, but he has been denied it (thus far) by the ideological litmus test overtly applied by the department. Be sure to follow through on the link to the National Association of Scholars.
Did I mention that we're talking about a state university?
