Kept the Job, Lost the Insurance

By John LaPlante

Filed As:  Health Care

In Illinois, the number of jobs with health insurance fell 660,000 between 2001 and 2005.

The numbers come from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, which would like to spin them into a call for increasing government control of health care.

On the other hand, you might, as I do, see it as yet another reason why we need to develop a strong market for insurance that sells across state lines, to individuals and associations, and to start using insurance as insurance rather than an expensive form of pre-paid medical services.
