When I worked in DC I had a lot of contact with the Families USA folks. Nice enough people but they don't have any clue about basic economics. Their idea that Medicaid is somehow a boon to the economy is laughable, but they take that line of reasoning very seriously. Unfortunately, newspaper editors seem to do so, too.
Amen! The rounding error "cuts" discussed were derived from the Medicaid Commission and dealt with slimey methods to draw more money out of the program. Congress's attempts to restore these bad policies show us the mountain ahead in dealing with Medicaid's trillions in unfunded liabilities.
