85 Pages of Taxes

Filed As:  Budget and Tax

There are many ways to measure the burden of taxes on an economy, including dollar amounts and taxes collected as a percentage of GDP or gross state product.

Texans for Fiscal Responsibility observes that there's a simpler way: How many pages does it take to list all the taxes levied in the state of Texas? Try 85 pages.

Click through to the news story cited by TFR, and you'll find some interesting curiosities, including the fact that "dedicated" revenues are anything but. There's also this odd comment: "I don’t mind paying. Don’t misunderstand me: I live to pay. I pay and I pay, and I’m happy to pay."

You like to pay? Great. Since you enjoy it show much, can you pay my share, too?
