More on Prisons than Colleges. Got a Problem with That?

Filed As:  Education (higher)General

Four states spend more on prisons than on colleges. The blog of the Acton Institute says not to worry: criminal justice is much more obviously a proper function of the state than is running colleges.

Generally I'd agree, though we must also make sure that government isn't making into crimes poor choices that ought not be crimes or when incarceration is used in places where non-institutional punishments are more appropriate.
