Healthy, Thin, Non-smokers Consume More Health Care

I think Mr Gessing needs to consider all the costs to society and not just the health care costs. To be objective, one would have to consider the cost of lost productivity for those disabled by their lifestyle choices. One should also consider the emotional cost to family and friends suffereing through the premature loss of a loved one. It's not just about the money.
..and oh yes, I'm a healthy, thin, 50 year old non-smoker that has missed only 3 days work due to illness in 30 years.
