Canadian Health Care Failing: Alberta's former premier speaks out

Canadians know their socialized health care system is failing. Now, "former Alberta premier Ralph Klein is calling on the new leaders in the country -- Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Premier Gordon Campbell, and ’the new crop’ of leaders in Atlanta Canada -- to do what he couldn’t, and reform the failing health-care system." Reform at the national level will be even more difficult than it would have been in Alberta as that province is easily the most market-oriented province in Canada.

Mr. Klein watched Alberta's health spending escalate from less than $4-billion in 1994 to more than $12-billion today. There is every indication the budget burden will escalate to unsustainable levels as the baby boomers age.

America's health care system often leaves much to be desired, but adopting Canada's socialized system would seem to be the wrong direction to go.
