Education Reform as Economic Development

Filed As:  Education (k-12)

There are many different kinds of charter schools. One that will open its doors this fall is the project of a small community development organizations in the poorest census tract of Kansas City, Kansas. KCK, as the smaller city on the western side of the Kansas/Missouri border, has historically been poorer than its Missouri counterpart.

The Northeast Business Association is involved in setting up the Maurice R. Holman Academy. You can listen to a radio interview with the group's executive director, below. It's an interesting listen as Chiquita C. Coggs talks about the development of the charter school.
