The start of the new year is as good an occasion as any to offer a reminder of what this site is about.
State Policy Blog is devoted to, as you might guess, public policy at the state and local level. While on extraordinary occasions we might dip into federal policy, there are enough groups out there to deal with the federal government.
Any matter of state policy is fair game, though budgets, education, and health care get most of the ink pixels. (The blog posts on health care, by the way, come from another site you should look at, www.statehousecall.org.)
Some of the posts here point to organizations that are members of State Policy Network (you can view a directory of the organizations here). SPN, as we usually call it, “is the professional service organization for America’s state-based, free market think tank community.”
The content of this site is strictly the opinion of the authors. SPN imposes no orthodoxy and sets no agenda. In fact, you’ll find that the member organizations have different emphases, and may sometimes disagree with each other on particular questions.
Welcome to the State Policy Blog, look around, and use the resources of our member organizations, and of this site, as you consider ways in which state and local governments can make public policy that enhances the well-being of American citizens.
