Welcome to the first in an occasional series featuring the high -- er -- "lowlights" in stupid state legislation.
The inaugural entry comes from -- no surprise -- California, where Assembly Bill 1608 would prohibit fast food billboard advertisements within 1,500 feet of any school or playground.
Why? Because, according to the bill, "the state has a responsibility to protect children from excessive advertisements that help contribute to obesity."
You just can't make this stuff up.
