Single-interest groups are well known for issuing report cards on legislators on the issues of abortion, taxes, and so forth. The Goldwater Institute has its own report card. Instead of focused on a single issue, it evaluates Arizona legislator's commitment to liberty, a principle that extends across issues.
It distills more than 1,500 legislative proposals into four key areas: constitutional government, educational opportunity, tax and budget, and regulation.
You can read the report card for details, look up a legislator by ZIP code, district or last name for the simple letter grade, or watch the institute's president, Darcy Olsen, talk about the report card on a TV show. A majority of legislators in southern Arizona scored an "F." The rest got a D.
