Terry Stoops, of the John Locke Foundation, suggests that the University of North Carolina start running some charter schools on its campuses.
The logic: the university can update its teacher training program and charter schools need teachers.
Stoops, an education policy analyst for the foundation, said a press release that "UNC can be the first state university system to create a statewide network of charter schools that use the demonstration-school model to improve the quality of teacher education.”
