How Employment-Based Health Benefits Distort the Health Care Market
American Experiment just released my new report, A Primer on How Employment-Based Health Benefits (and the Tax Code) Distort the Health Care Market. The health care market distortions outlined in the report will be familiar to any student of health care policy, but likely not so familiar to the general public, including our lawmakers. While health care policy can never be stated in plain English, this report attempts to outline as plainly as possible how employment-based health benefits distort health care markets. Without a clear understanding of these distortions, it’s difficult to expect the public or our lawmakers to support reforms that scale back the present incentives for employers to provide health benefits.
